Close Polycythemia
had PRV approx 3 years a racing cyclist all my life I have continued to ride but not race to quite a high level (approx 150-200miles per week) for my age found this helps enormously to reduce symptoms like itching & tiredness. Is there anyone else out there with PRV that has a similar exercise routine??
Treatments
- Hydroxurea Working / Worked
- red cells & platlets came down to norm had some dizzy spells when on 7/week.do aerobic, endurance cycling,is this helping keep levels ? down as I have been able to reduce hydrea from 7/week to 4/week with blood levels remaining norm ! nobody seems to know
- Phlebotomy Working / Worked
- again this worked had no side effects but have not had any blood taken now for 2 years so have been removed from clinic until deemed needed again. does the exercise help again nobody seems to know
- Cycling Working / Worked
- cant tell if cycling exercise is helpfull in keeping red cells & platelets down, but definately reduces the fatigue to a point where its very rare now also the itching after a shower in only very slight now
