Tomorrow my loving, wild and very opinionated 5 year old starts Kindergarten, and I am already having problems. I called to talk to the ECU leader ( special education leader) to ask her when I was going to be notifed about an IEP, and she said that she wasn't done with her screening and that it would be anywhere between 6-12 weeks when that would be done. But it doesn't start until the first day of school. GRR!!!
Then she proceeded to tell me that they don't necessarily do IEP's due to the fact that they don't like labeling children special education. I told her that I don't care what they like doing, I want one done on my child, needless to say I didn't get anywhere.
I just don't want him to hate school like I did. Although he is oblivous about what is going on he is just excited to go to school.
