Thank you for your input, I was beginning to wonder if I was alone in my decision to use the 12 steps as the base of living without sugar. I am not brave enough to leave all flour yet. I am reading/working through a book that refers back to the 12 step model all the time and as a food therapist she suggests waiting at least one year before tackling the other forms of sugar producers. Stevia is a substitute, but from what I have researched does not produce the same craving or sugar alcohol in the system. I really don't eat "goodies" so have no need of it most of the time. I have found a couple decaffeinated teas that are very sweet naturally. i miss chewing gum though, so most mornings when I am leaving for work, I pick a few leaves from my Steva plants and a few from the chocolate mint plants and chew them together all the way to work! Please keep writing, sounds like you and I are travelling similar paths. I will be 58 soon and am an AA/NA member as well. I have also begun to study a Native American version of the program called the Red Road to Wellbriety (whitebison.org). hope to hear from you soon. Sunni

Close Food Addiction
Food is way too important to me. I'm a food addict with lots of experience on diets and in OA. Also, I'm in recovery in AA. Food is not just food for nutrition, I think I worship it. I KNOW I use food for emotional reasons. I'm here for support and service to others.
