Oh I saw your answer on the community - awesome answer BTW! :-) I wanted to say I think that Seroquel is harder to come off of than other "pure" antipsychotics in that it is a little more than just an antipsychotic - it is used as a mood stabilizer and for depression in bipolar patients and deals with those brain chemicals & I have heard of people having issues in regards to sleep when coming off of it as well. Honestly the weirdest thing with Seroquel is that I have had insomnia with it - and even when on high doses - (once I took 1200mg because I just could not sleep and thought maybe it would help - it didn't really) So I have issues going to sleep... but once I actually go to sleep which is normally many hours after taking Seroquel, I pass out for at least 10 hours, sometimes 12+ hours... It makes me need more sleep once I do sleep... but yet - doesn't actually put me to sleep? I have a sleep disorder though, so maybe that has something to do with it? I dunno - I am just tired of dragging & sleeping long stretches - it is good though in that I actually do sleep (which I would skip on sometimes, as it makes me manic, now thinking about it maybe it stops me from actually being manic - hmmm....) I dunno. I just wish Abilify would of worked out since it is like weight neutral and doesn't make you sleepy - but you know how disatrous that one was in regards to akathisia - ACK! :-D Ok, I have seriously gone off... Oh I dunno if I told you this, but my pdoc had this idea that patients like us (we are supposedly rare in that we have akathisia with like most of the meds) have something wrong with our dopamine receptors - or maybe not exactly wrong, just different than most? I dunno how much merit that would hold though... interesting to try to figure out... y'know? Ok- this is super long :-D

Yea I totally understand you on the Seroquel, shame it is our only option really... only you can understand that with me... I have been up to 1000mg, am currently rx'd 600mg... I want to go down to 400mg They have to come out with something soon for people like us, akathisia is total hell & no antipsychotics are bad too. I get really really moody with lowered Seroquel & I have "static" sometimes, but nothing really else that is unlivable... The Seroquel XR is better as far as sleepiness/dragging is concerned in my opinion, are you on that one? I hope my pdoc goes for it when I tell him what I have been doing... (it's been off and on & I was messing with regular Seroquel vs. Seroquel XR) I see him on Friday. I just want to stop the snacking and tired/dragging - y'know? Sorry for my rant - hahaha... Anyways - hope you are doing well! :hugs: to you ;-D
