      Type: Other

to share information and personal experience with brain cancer/tumors, particularly GBM, which claimed my husband's life June 13, 2009.

      Treatments

      Chemotherapy Somewhat Helpful
My husband, Pete, had the gold standard chemo treatment for GBM: first Temodar (tumor grew back while on the drug), then Avastin/Irenotecan. The latter drugs probably slowed tumor growth for a couple months, but the side effects were devastating.
      Radiotherapy Not Working
Pete's tumor was resected 100%. It grew back despite maximum radiation and chemo.
      Surgery, Brain Working / Worked
      Resected 100%
      Temodar Not Working
The good thing was Pete had no apparent side effects from the drug. It was unbelievable expensive, though, and didn't have any impact on keeping the tumor from growing back in the same area.
