    • About Me

I am Jess.. Nothing more and nothing less.. I am a technician by trade and a weirdo by nature. Diagnosed with MS March (the irony) of '09. I have done the school, marriage, traveling things in life. Moved around alot, and landed here. I am a vegetarian because it is too hectic to keep foods I can eat straight, so I cut them out completely. I am finding that I have become a much happier person in my last few years. I find that anything new added onto my plate is just a challenge, and something new for me to just overcome. I feel that I am strong and charismatic. I can take anything; well I hope so. I have taken everything thrown at me and succeeded past it; and everything and overcome it. The harder the better, cause I like puzzles.

Steroids can cause your hair to fall out! Could that be it? :(

I'm doing a bit better! Thanks for being so supportive! Sometimes MS feels like a ton just pressing down on me--other times I feel I can do this. I hope for the latter to become the norm. You take care too!

Working here isn't that great. Pays the bills and thats what counts, then again. I just did 27.5 hr of OT this week. Maybe it dosen't pay the bills. I fear this new medical plan Obama wants. Other countrys have it. But, if you need a kidney or liver they don't cover it. How will it effect our meds. This Beta is up to $30,000.00 a year. Ins covers it now. Will it under his plan? I guess I'll just take it one day at a time. Sometimes I'd like to tell people at work. But, I think it would come out negative. I would end up going after all the lazy SOB that don't do anything and I work all day while on these meds. That's some of why I keep it to my self. I hate lazy people getting a good check. Enough of that, I could go on all night. I might get some sleep today after work. But , then there's my little ones Pre-Kindergarden graduation tomorrow nite. I think the more I type the worse my spelling gets. Need Mtn DEW. Have a good night. I'll take to you later.

Sounds like you had Optic Neuritis? I had that in my left eye, but I went in within a week cause I'm an artist and can't have my vision clouded up. It took years though and no answer. In the meantime I worked to support myself and slowly deteriorated. I'm really glad for the dx! I know what you mean though about signs... I was really strong too--studied martial arts--and now I'm weak weak weak. And I can't exercise of course. Anyway, this is the perfect place to rely on people--we know how it is going through the same shit so no worries about burdening anyone talking about MS. I found not talking about it was making me crazy, that's why I joined. I hope you make a lot of friends here !

Were all weird in our own ways. Some of teh people out there just have a hard time accepting it.I work for the Government. It's not as great as everyone thinks. I had a co-worker that had to med. retire from here due to MS. She didn't want to. She said she would need to be out for awhile and be back as soon as she could. They sent the paperwork to her house with a note. Please sign and return. I'm not ready for that. From Thurs to Thurs I put in 40 hr and 27 hr of OT. One wife, 2 cats and 3 kids. I need the money. I have bills and they know how to make more. But, that's ok. It's all part of raiseing a family. My wife is a union rep here. They tried to make another gal here take a med. retirement. She is waiting for a kidney transplant, dose dialises at home then comes to work. She can still work and their still trying to push her out. That's why I keep it a secret. My co-workers might be ok with it. It's the management that's the problem. We just keep going on, one day at a time. Though it dose piss me off more now to see how lazy some people can be. WE have MS co-workers have nothing wrong and only get half as much done. What's up with that. I have 20 years in Aug. I thought about saying something then. But, why cut my own throat withit. Do you feel like this about your co-workers since your DX? Take care. Who's teh little guy in the picture with you?

    • Close Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
      Type: Relapsing-remitting MS

I was diagnosed March of '09. This was after fighting with my mother (the medical professional) over advice as to what I should do after I lost use of my leg (for the 3rd time).. I am into educating myself on this whole MS thing, so I can help battle and WIN!

      Treatments

      Rebif Working / Worked
besides the bruising it is alright. I am not sure if it is actually doing anything yet.. been on it for about 3 months.
      Solumedrol Working / Worked
I am on solumedrol infusions once a month.. they juice me but I don't like the idea of steroids so frequently.. Only have 2 more infusions scheduled.
    • Close Asthma

      Treatments

      Advair Somewhat Helpful
I only used this for a few months.. right during my allergy season.. but I found I still needed my albuterol inhaler sometimes
      Albuterol Working / Worked
only use it when needed.. and it works like a charm
      Breathing Exercises Working / Worked
I have been doing Yoga for a about a year.. and I tend to take the breathing from it and use it to relax myself quite often
    • Open Food Allergies
Type of allergy: Shellfish / Seafood

To mingle with others who are unfortunate like I am to have seafood allergies.. Because I hear it is tasty..

      Treatments

Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
I am a vegetarian. I have cut out seafood completely, as well as meats. This is a pretty effective way of keeping out food allergens.. for me at least
      EpiPen Working / Worked
I carry one at all times.. I have only had to use one twice in my life. Once during an almost fatal clam chowder episode brought on by a baby sitter, and once while baby sitting and hidden pop corn shrimp dangers.. but they saved me.. so
