hysterectomy at 55
I am 55 years old. I have reached menopause for almost 2 years. I have large fibroids in my uterus that need to be removed. …
I have been married for 33 years and have 4 children and one beautiful grandson. I stayed at home to care for my children and I continued to be at home since this works for my family. I enjoy scrapbooking, sewing, walking, and the occasional appropriate movie. I believe in one creator who is God almighty.

I am 55 years old. I have large fibroids in my uterus that need to be removed. My doctor recommends removing everything, the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus and cervix. My question and concern is. At my age, do my ovaries still produce estrogen? Both the surgeon and my family doctor say no but I have heard otherwise. I have been on the Internet reading about hysterectomies and many links say to keep the ovaries. Any advise? Neusa B
