Close Hemochromatosis

I was diagnosed homozygous c282y in Jan. 2008. At the age of 43. After years of suffering joint pain, stomach pain, depression, and all kinds of misery and fatigue. Finally, something to blame it on!

Treatments

Dietary Modification Working / Worked

I know alot of people say this doesn't help. Taking in less iron has to help in my opinion. And Drinking Tea also inhibits absorption. I use to hate Tea I now love it! My lil iron fighter!! Less Beef more Fish and Chicken..also great modifications.

Lidoderm Working / Worked

After losing my medical ins.and my hospital nurses, and my Lidocaine injections. I started donating at a donation center. they don't have any lidocaine there, and bigger needles. It was painful, I have very small hiding veins.Then I found the Lidocaine patch..ahhhh.Much better!

Phlebotomy Working / Worked

In the beginning (1-08) I had Phleebs once a week for a month. Then every two weeks, in a Hospital,nice friendly nurses, and Lidocaine...oh I miss my Lidocaine! Starting Jan. 09, 1x month. Also in Apr. I lost my med. ins. Now what? As you know,not many blood banks accept HH blood. Finally after much searching, and worrying, I found one! Approx.40 mins. from me. I don't have my nice friendly nurses, or my Lidocaine, but I thank God there are those few who accept our much needed blood!
