Thank you so much for thinking of me D.not doing well right now but I'm sure it will pass.Just getting on here and doing what I can.you know how that goes.I saw your pond and flowers in your pics!Just beautiful. What kind of fish do you have in it?It sure does make you feel good to work outside with the flowers and plants huh? It's one of my favorite things in the world.you sound like your doing great.I was thinking that I do have fibro but I haven't seen a doc about it,and have not had it till now.Well,I may not have it but I have some new symptoms that don't seem to fit anywhere else.BUT,I do react to weather also, and hot water like taking showers.Don't know if it's the brain injury or what-lol.sorry but I feel I'm not making sense.......but trying!I really have all the symptoms of MS,and have for years but after going through all the tesying for the 3rd time I gave up.Haven't been to a rheumy yet ,and that's most likely the problem.Ah,I digress.I love hearing about your flowers and puppy playtimes.I live in Colorado, but it seems to be going stir crazy everywhere(with the weather).
I just looked up and saw your smiley face.No headache!I'm so glad to hear that.Did your headache go away when you had the blackout a couple days ago?Migraines go out with a bang sometimes!I get real sleepy and emotional right before mine stop sometimes.Have you had any more symptoms related to that incident?Just checkin on ya.Oh BTW,your dog is precious. What kind of dog does your neighbor have?I have a big ,happy, sweet, border collie named Max.Rambeling here-lol again.I hope you have a superduperfantastic headache free day!
Thanks for writing,Jen -
I'm With You

I'm so glad you had no headache and were able to do so many things -- just hope you're not paying for it today! To answer your question, I'm taking prednisone (reluctantly) right now because I have lupus, and I had a bout of mycarditis (inflammation of the heart) a few months ago -- so BIG prednisone then, and I'm still tapering off of it. The nasty rheumatologist wanted me to take it for a few months to avoid the heart thing again, which is really a good idea -- I just hate taking prednisone, I bloat up like a balloon. A water balloon. My calves are about doubled in size, and if I press on it, the dent stays for the whole day! Yesterday I went to Fort Abraham Lincoln state park; one side of it is a reconstruction of a Mandan Indian village, called On-A-Slant, that once held about 10,000 people; smallpox, in the late 1700s, wiped them down to about 2,000, and those few survivors moved upriver to live near the Hidatsa, who are sort of related and lived the same settled farming lifestyle. they felt safer from enemy attacks when near their allies, and that's where Lewis and Clark met them. The reconstructed earth lodges are REALLY fascinating; they were designed in 1934 by an elderly Mandan woman, the first one to be a Corn Priest (a big deal, since corn was their main crop and for 200-300 years all the priests were men) and she was also one of the last full-blooded Mandan (they intermarried first with Hidatsa then with Arikara too; there just weren't many left after smallpox), and she had already built 5 lodges for herself -- and by herself -- but she designed and helped the Civilian Conservation Corps build the ones still standing, back iin 1934 when she was quite old. The largest is the ceremonial lodge. Then I drove to the other side of the park where they've reconstructed the house that "General" (he was busted back to Lt. Colonel after the Civil War but made his men call him General!) Custer lived in before leaving for the Little Big Horn. The Commissary and house were rebuilt in the early 1990s, the barracks and stables more recently. The tours are led by people in the costume of soldiers and laundresses of 1875, before the battle, and once you cross a line, it IS 1975 so you have to turn off cell phones, etc., and play along. They won't answer questions about what happened after the battle because of course they pretend it hasn't happened yet. Again, collecting photos for my book. The Custer house is said to be haunted, so in the book it goes! It was REALLY hot in the house, and I'd already walked all over the Mandan village, and by the time we got out of the Custer House I could hardly stand. I got some lemonade at the "Commissary" and sat for a bit, but then a storm started so I went home. I was SO tired, I just went to bed --- and slept from about noon until 6:00 p.m.! I'm so glad my sister called and woke me; I didn't think I'd sleep more than a couple hours, if that. Apparently my body had had enough. Today it's already hot at 10:00 a.m., and is supposed to get to at least 90, so I'm staying inside, and going to try to get some writing done. I'm still trying to decide whether or not to go to Minneapolis next week; I so want to see my niece and her darling baby (there are two photos of her in my photo page, little Lily), but my sister here, the doctor, wants to go to Mall of America. The "megamall." And I can barely handle a grocery store. I have told her countless times that with CFS (not to mention lupus) I simply can't handle the crowds and noise and bustle and lights, but she doesn't want to hear that -- and hates to shop alone (she needs someone to admire the many things she buys!). I don't know how long Lily will be able to manage shopping; she's 11 months, and I don't think that's a terribly patient age. And it's a 400 mile drive, and it's really hard for me to stay in one position that long. I just don't know what to do! I'll get it figured out. Thanks for the hug, and hope you're still headache free!

No headache! Wow, that is special. The garden is getting a good soaking and looking good. My blackeyed peas are all sprouting, and the peanuts are just starting to come up. The rain was just what I needed. I have been trying to clear out a storeroom by the end of the month, got some heavy stuff to move.

Thumbs Up
hart2hart (06/23/09)
Thanks D for your kind words of encouragement. I would give anything to have the support of my wife. I told her the other day she made a vow when we got married of in sickness and health but she wouldn't say anything back to me. I would never treat her like she has treated me this past 2 years. I don't think we are going to last much longer if it stays this way. The bad thing is I need her now more than anytime in the last 42 years of our marriage. I think when a man gets this disease it is harder because he is the one that is supposed to be the strong one and the provider. She has lost respect for me because I cannot do all the things I used to do and she has had to take a bigger roll in everything. I feel bad about the situation but there is little I can do about it. I think there should be a singles site for CFS and FM people to get together. At least they would understand and support each other. Take care and God Bless You, Rick

Hope you had a nice time in your garden; I love the outdoors too and miss hiking. I ended up walking more than I thought I'd have to, because one road had a locked gate so I couldn't drive to the cemetery I wanted to visit (long story) so I had to walk up the hill. Landed on my back side trying to get THAT gate open (LOL!) then tripped over the headstone I was looking for (a friend's great-aunt). When I came out of the cemetery, the cows that had been grazing on the side of the hill had all come to stare at me, and they followed me all the way down to the gate! I was hoping they weren't attack cows... It was a lovely morning, a little overcast (which is good because I'm taking prednisone -- "avoid the outdoors") and a breeze. Got hot this afternoon so I stayed inside. Your fish pond sounds lovely. Ponds are hard to keep nice from one summer to the next in North Dakota; our winters can devastate them. I'd LOVE a tile pond with a fountain! In my dreams... I have a couple of really great neighbors too; I don't know what I'd do without them. All things considered, we're pretty lucky, aside from illness, aren't we? Hope the rest of your week goes well!
Hugs,
Lee
