thanks for being my friend. i look forward to getting to know you. We seem to have a lot in common!!

    • Hug

      From Battlefeild September 28

Have you seen an allergist? That's the only thing that helped me. I was so stopped up I wanted to die! They tested me for allergens and discovered I was allergic to everything, dust mites, pollen, molds, pet dander, ect. I was given 3 shots once a week for about a year and they gradually cut me down to once a month. Other than that you could try a nettie pot. The only problem with that is your sinuses have to be clear for you to use it. It cleans all of the allegens out of your sinuses. Good luck!

    • Close Shyness

I've been shy all my life, I guess, but it gets better at some times and worse at others. Right now, as I am going through a tough time, my shyness is really bothering me. I am a lot less shy than I was 15, 10, even 2 years ago...but I want to improve more.

      Treatments

      Pets Working / Worked
Other people's dogs do wonders for me, but unfortunately I don't have one of my own right now.
      Psychotherapy Somewhat Helpful
My counselor was the opposite of shy and did not seem to understand me. She gave a few helpful suggestions of WHERE to meet new people, but couldn't seem to tell me what to say and how to act once I met them.
      Self-help Somewhat Helpful
Like I said, I am improving, mostly through my own efforts. But I have a long way to go.
      Socializing Somewhat Helpful
I am least shy when it comes to this area...especially if physical intimacy is involved! But I am afraid I'm using this intimacy as a way to avoid dealing with my problems.
    • Close Loneliness

I tend to cling to one "best" friend at a time, and often don't try to develop multiple, close relationships. This is going to hurt me in the near future, when my current best friend moves far away.

    • Open Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

IBS: alternating diarrhea and constipation; gas; nausea, nausea, nausea!

      Treatments

      Acidophilus Not Working
      Aloe Vera Not Working
Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Somewhat Helpful
No more onions or ice cream; no artificial sweeteners; sometimes eat nothing for a time b/c of nausea
      Bentyl Not Working
      Chamomile Somewhat Helpful
      High Fiber Diet Somewhat Helpful
      Imodium Somewhat Helpful
      Librax Not Working
      Peppermint Not Working
      Probiotics Too Soon to Tell
seems to help sometimes but could be coincidence
      Psyllium Somewhat Helpful
seems to help sometimes but could be coincidence
    • Open Anxiety

I've always been an anxious person. A worrier. Phobic. I've always just said that was who I was. I could never even imagine being calm. But I'd definitely like to take it down a notch!

      Treatments

Breathing Exercises Too Soon to Tell
Seemed to aggravate my IBS--too much diaphragmatic movement gets my gut going!
      Positive Thinking Somewhat Helpful
This works except when I'm feeling ill for a long time (with IBS, allergies) or going through a very stressful time.
    • Open Environmental Allergies

      Treatments

      Allegra Somewhat Helpful
I took this years ago; it helps as well as anything, I guess. But I no longer have a prescription for it.
      Nasal Irrigation Somewhat Helpful
      Sudafed Somewhat Helpful
I use this (or something similar) often; it only helps somewhat.
      Zyrtec Somewhat Helpful
I am on this around the clock. Usually it helps some, but lately my allergies have just been too severe!
      Benadryl Working / Worked
This works better than anything when I get really bad but the extreme drowsiness it causes me means I cant use it while working driving etc.
    • Open Depression

I think I may be depressed, and I'm in so deep I almost like it! Depression has become my comfortable routine. I KNOW I should change but the prospect makes me uneasy and tired.

      Treatments

      Elavil Not Working
I took this for Irritable Bowel, not depression. It made me nuts--paranoid and just...nuts! Must be bad for my body chemistry.
      Positive Thinking Not Working
Times are so tough and so scary...so many people losing their jobs...it's hard to find the positive at times.
Support from Friends & Family Somewhat Helpful
I have a few close friends who are there for me (when they aren't busy trying to survive!) And my family is awesome! But it's not healthy to hang out with one's parents all the time...
      Writing Somewhat Helpful
