I am the grandmother of an autistic boy who I am raising due to my daughter's ongoing battle with heroin addiction. My husband and I have had Kendal for the majority of his life. We tend to focus on his many exceptional qualities rather than his disabilites, however as he gets older it is becoming more physically difficult to handle his emotional meltdowns.

Hi! I have 2 boys, my 2 yr old is autistic. My mom has a profile on here ("grama") too. I cant imagine how hard it must be for you to raise your grandson under those circumstances. You have come to the right place for support. I bet you and my mom could relate in alot of ways.

My husband and I are raising our 3 yr old grandson due to the fact that our daughter is a heroin addict. He is the light of our lives, and we love him with all our hearts. I have suspected something "was different" with Kendal since the age of about 8 mths, although we didn't get a diagnosis until about 4 mths ago. Everyone that has evaluated him feels that he does show autistic tendancies, but he also exhibits behaviors that are not typical.
