Have had N for 45 years. On disability since 1993. Was once a VP of a direct marketing firm. Now I am President of my home, presiding over my service dog and 4 cats. Well, nobody actually presides over cats. My dog is a service dog and best friend, Olivia. Until about 10 years ago I 'managed' with my illness, but friends have fallen by the wayside, church has abandoned me (must not be praying hard enough or a miracle would heal me). Have 2 sons in their 30's - one married with 4 kids and my son is a grandpa! Other son is divorced with a little girl and he's a Sgt. in the Army, getting ready to deploy to Iraq for the 3rd time. (Don't expect me to be lucid beginning this Oct, and for the ensuing year.) Abusive parents, abusive ex, but I do okay. Have dealt with severe PTSD and had EMDR therapy for it, among other things. . Have spoken at 2 Narcolepsy Network conferences. Feel like an alien on this planet, like someone plopped me down on earth and now I am a square peg trying to fit into a round hole. Have other health problems, but who among us hasn't. I passed on my N to two of my three sons. One has since suicided. You never get over that. Have learned that narcoleptics can be some of the best friends you'll ever have.

Helping others determine if they can benefit from a service dog, and if so, help them through the application process. Founded Southwest Narcolepsy Advocacy Partners (SWNaps), but need fund to get my already designed brochures printed and distributed. It is aimed primary at newly diagnosed pwn's, but any pwn will do. Reach out to others going through hard times with their N to offer support. Support is so important to us. My philosophy is to bring joy to myself or better yet, to someone else and 'get out of myself.' Service of any kind, no matter how small, not only helps others, but reaps big rewards for ourselves. Recently took up beading and loving it. Now if I only had the money for it.

For the best possible outcome!

I hope you have a great day!
Thank You

hi arizonahugs,
thanx so much for ur long, warm n careing message/hug. it is so sad that there are so little careing ppl around these days.
since i have started a fresh message pls forgive me if i miss out on some of the stuff u have written on.
guess what? me pdoc is a very experienced ole man who practiced in nz for years n has come back to sri lanka cos he wants to give back something cos he got a govt schol when he was young. anyways he is most knowledgabe n while he warned me about the rash never said any thing about lamictal being possibly fatal!! anyways i dont have a rash at the mo so i am ok; i am gona see him tomorrow; should i mention what u said, to him??
hey! is that a golden retrever with u in ur profile pic? isn't she the cutes; jst like her cute owner? i have a blck lab, who is me brother, pal and partner in mischief - although i am 38! - n he got mange recently - only a small area but, i felt like killin me self when i first noticed it. it is basically localized but it could spread like wild fire from what i have heard. if u know of any cure for it pls pass it on.
wow!! i have heard loads about the mayo clinic. if u have experience with the mayo clinic n u can prove it n are willing to live in a 65,000 sq. km. tropical island; full of zany ppl - u should do very well here. the reason i say this is cos the alternative health care industry has grown leaps n bounds n also cos the civil war in sri lanka is officially over; so the tourism industry should pick up fast n when they hear that u are from the mayo clinic; i am sure they will be all gaga!!
as for direct marketing; it has been fully exploited over here n has earned a rather bad name for itself. they recruit uneducated youth, give them heavy bags - literally, of inferior merchandice n let them loose on the streets with high targets on their collective shoulders n the poor guys n gals are now shooed away from houses cos everyone knows about the quality of their stuff. of course these so called companies put out weekly adverisements in the newspapers calling school leavers for direct marketing jobs promising them that they can earn up to sri lankan rupees 25,000 - 30,0000 per month which works out to around 250 - 300 us $ but that is big money over here. needlessly to say they never earn so much; jst get scolded n shood a way from every house they go to n that also after trudging for miles on end cos they are not given transport. the reason for the weekly ad is cos many give up after a frustrating week or so. however i am sure things must be much more professional over there.
regarding 'n' - cant remember the full word although remember vaguely how it is spelt, i couldn't find the term even in the oxford (paperback) dic; although they had narcosis - is 'n' something to do with this; pls enlighten me k?
thanx for the advice about friends; i guess i always knew it but, when u get really lonely ... u know what happens.
i am afraid that's about all i remember from ur message.
do u mind me adding u on as a friend; for if nothing else; we can write really long messages to each other!! lol! if u are interested pls send me a message cos it would not be fair to add u on without ur permission.
oh! before i forget, enjoy the choc; it is especially for u!
kindest regards,
omarc71
Misdiagnosed for 30 years, went through hell, and even after diagnosis, with uneducated medical personnel. Not a pretty story
