Yesterday I received a charming card from my 97-year-old grandmother. She lives in a sweet little nursing home in Kansas with a view out her window of a green field and a lake. She said, “I woke up in the night several times thinking of you and praying for you.” And I said, “I’ve gotta survive this cancer for Grandmother.” Not everyone has a 97-year-old grandmother still going strong and another grandma who died at 93! I’ve got longevity genes.
Today I’m going to study my stack of encouraging messages to prepare for tomorrow’s surgery. The doctor said yesterday the latest tests show that my bones and brain are clear of cancer! There are four 2-cm mets on my lungs, and perhaps some smaller ones. Tomorrow he will remove the mass along with the left kidney, adrenal gland and some lymph nodes. Dr. Harmon believes in the power of prayer. He said to rest and be peaceful today, while thinking of all my family and friends praying for me.
I was contemplating how David is so confident that God thinks about each one of us so often. In Psalm 139:17-18, he says “How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand.” I wondered how God could think that much just about me? Then I realized that my three precious children are close to my thoughts nearly all the time. An Infinite Father could think every moment always just about His dear child me, while at the same time thinking every moment always just about His dear child you. As David says back in verse 6, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me!”

Good Morning Dear One!
What a beautiful story about your 93 year old grandmother. You are truly blessed to have her. I lost mine many years ago, as well as lost both my precious parents within the past few years.
I hope you will rest and relax today. I am praying for the surgery to go well tomorrow. What time is it scheduled? I want to be praying during it too.
Take care, my friend. I have no doubt that our Lord is with you.
Love,
Ingrid
