Consider the workings of the Body of Christ: my Aunt Earlene asked her pastors to pray for me. They did so and sent her a scripture portion just for me. It was Psalm 46, which I shared with John.
In our world, the earth shakes (I’m stricken with cancer), mountains plunge into the sea (our country totters on the edge of destruction), the seas roar (the church battles the forces of evil). Yet, come with me and see a pure river flowing from the city of God. The LORD of hosts is there, uttering a word against the raging nations, offering us help and refuge.
This river is more real to me than everyday life. It flows from our true home, for we’re just pilgrims and strangers in this world. Our true citizenship remains in that new Zion, land of the crystal river, the tree of life, plants that heal, and no more curse. And there we will look upon His face.
See for yourself in Psalm 46, Ezekiel 47:1-12, Zechariah 14:8-9 and Revelation 22:1-5.
