The race set before us Mood
Saturday, November 21, 2009
I watched movies of the lives of Moses and Abraham and Sarah recently. Their lives were difficult, such a struggle, hearing little from God. And I realized that our lives are the same. God gives us opportunities to be heroic, but the way is difficult and we hear little from Him. Think how much an advantage we have in the written Word of God to guide us in our pilgrimage. How blessed we are to have the biographies of these great people of God to teach us.

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.  Hebrews 12:1-2

He daily loads us with benefits Mood
Thursday, November 19, 2009

I’m thinking I’ll go to Cape Town. The dates will be Dec. 2-16. Thank you all for your encouragement to go. It will be good to have a holiday!

Look at these good verses in Psalm 68:19-20:

Blessed be the Lord,

Who daily loads us with benefits,

The God of our salvation!  Selah

Our God is the God of salvation;

And to GOD the Lord belong escapes from death.

Strength to go? Mood
Tuesday, November 17, 2009
My husband John has a set of tickets for each of us to return to Cape Town for a two-week visit. These are old tickets that have been changed several times and will be lost if I don’t use mine. Should I go on this trip?

I have felt steadily more exhausted as a result of the Sutent, but I only have seven more days to take it before my 14-day break. Then I’ll have another 28-day round of Sutent followed by another 14-day break. At this point the doc will run scans to see how the Sutent is affecting the tumors in my lungs and liver.

I feel good about going on this trip. The duration of the trip would fall the last week of my 14-day break and the first week of the new 28-day round. But day-to-day now I feel so tired that I have to force myself to keep up as much of my daily routine as possible. I sure hope it’s being effective because I hate being so weak! Meanwhile, I’m still trying to figure out how the Lord’s strength is made perfect in my weakness.

Becki - Glad you are hopeful about going on this trip. Sounds like the timing would be good, and it may be the respite your soul needs. Will you be connecting with friends there? That would bring joy! Praying for clarity for your decision. - Karen

    My Precious Becki,

This trip sounds wonderful. I do pray that the Lord will give you the energy you need. Sutent is known to cause terrible fatigue, but during the 14 day break a good deal of strength will return.

Take care of yourself, darlin. I will be praying about this trip for you.

    I love you,
    Ingrid

    Dear brusk,

I haven't been in contact with you before, but, found myself at this page of your journal - I just wanted to say - when my partner was on Sutent, during the break he got steadily much much better after the first few days off it, and the first week back on he felt even healthier. I know everyone's different, but I just wanted to pass that on. . .He was also absolutely drained and exhausted by the Sutent, but delighted by the contrast in how he felt after he stopped taking it.

Wishing you all the very very best, both in deciding whether or not to take this trip, and in your other, harder journey. I've read a couple of your other journal comments, and am always uplifted and by your strength and courage - thank you.

    Ephesians 3:20-21
20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (ESV)

May God give you strength and grace and fulfill the desires of your heart.

    We love you and John,
