Before my diagnosis with RCC, my husband and I lived in South Africa, where we served as missionaries. We have three children and seven grandchildren. We returned to the US on June 16, and surgeons removed my left kidney, adrenal gland and a 13-cm mass on July 1. My oncologist says the mets on my lungs are growing relatively fast and we must start Torisel by July 27, 2009. So I'll go next week to meet with the patient educator to learn what's coming up.

I love Africa! I've written several short books for mothers to use to train their children to become wise. See my webpage about them here: http://ruskbecki.googlepages.com/mashals To comfort my friends who also suffer, I've also compiled scriptures on suffering from the Bible: http://Scriptures.pain.googlepages.com

This ray of sunshine is a symbol of energy for you. Go on your trip and enjoy. This will give you a chance to recoup. At home we tend to try to do more then we are able to and wear ourselves out. Go and enjoy. Let someone else take care of you. I will pray that the tumors are GONE. Love and God Bless........Margie
I read this on a Caringbridge page, and thought of you and several others here, I could have journaled it, but I wanted to make sure you got to read it. It was about a little boy fighting CA also.

I love you, my beautiful Aunt Becki!
Hello!!!!!! Hugs and prayers for you this day. Love, Hunter
A few hours ago I was diagnosed with RCC, and I suppose I'm in shock now. It has already metastasized to the lymph nodes and lungs, so I'm facing worse case scenarios. I have wonderful support from my church here in South Africa and my home church in Phoenix. And, of course, our children and grandchildren are behind me 100%.
