I have simple partial nocturnal seizures and I have migraines. I have been on Carbatrol (tegretol) for years and now I am being weaned off of it to Zonegran. I had previously taken topomax but it made me have trouble focusing so I had to go off of it and that was difficult.

Thanks for the advice. Today is shaping up to be miserable. Woke up at 4 am and haven't managed to get any more sleep. $#%& headaches!

There used to be a particular spot on the left side of my head where my migraines always started, but now it's anywhere. And I have one almost every day, which really stinks. I spend a lot of my waking time in pain and trying to get rid of a migraine. I'm working on getting my massage license, and giving or getting massage seems to really help. Best wishes to you, Dan

Hello from a fellow Floridian. My dr. told me migraines are harder to control in people with seizures and I believe him 'cause my migraines have never been controlled. But why are you being taken off tegretol? Good luck, Dan

Welcome to daily strength, I been on Tregetol made me crazy like insane and in an coma, I on Zonegran maybe taken off it soon or Keppra, now on Topamax when I did not want to be on it do many side effects, but not yet maybe dizzness if eyes closed in shower.

- Aspirin Somewhat Helpful
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
- I avoid MSG. MSG always puts me under the table. And Chocolate is bad too sometimes ZI cheat though because I love Chocolate but it really isnt worth the migraine
- Caffeine Somewhat Helpful
- Maxalt Too Soon to Tell
- Topamax Somewhat Helpful
- I liked topomax at first cause it made me skinnier but then it made me unfocusable and caused me to have an accident
- Tylenol Not Working

- Dilantin Not Working
- Dilantin was my worst nightmare. It made me feel like I was loosing my mind! The doctor told me that for some reason Dilantin does not work on some women!!!! Never again!!!!!!
- Keppra Too Soon to Tell
- Now I am on Keppra because the tegretol(Carbatrol) affected my bone density scores
- Tegretol Working / Worked
- I have taken it for 20 years but I feel like it has effected my bone density. In the last 5 years I have had 3 fractures. Right now I am being weaned off of it to go on Zonegran

- made it hard for me to focus so I stopped
