Close Hidradenitis Suppurativa
I suffer from HS. Started with a pilonidal cyst on tail bone at age 18. Fired from most jobs because they don't want a slow person. Had surgery, quiet for a few years then my armpits started developing huge painful sores that drained. Then I started getting them elsewhere. I have been to a Dermatologist but nothing worked. I have tried home remedies to no avail. Am on SSI because I find it difficult to work, my doctor gave up. I see another Derm. in July to keep up with medical records.
Treatments
- Hibiclens Somewhat Helpful
- It keeps the areas clean from infection. Antibiotic soap is the only kind I use anymore.Sometimes I have found that it also helps break the sores open which relieves alot of the pain. NOTE: My dermatologist did say that Hibiclens does take away the good bacteria with the bad so she recommended Benzol Peroxide instead.

- Art Somewhat Helpful
- I knit, helps relieve some of the anxiety, but only for a short time as I can't knit for long.
- Music Somewhat Helpful
- Music does soothe me when I'm in the mood for it.
- Psychotherapy Somewhat Helpful
- I started couseling back in 2008. At that time I was worse. Now my counselor has notice significant improvements, especially in moods.
- Reading Working / Worked
- I love to read the Twilight saga. Thank God for those books, I can literally loose my self in them and forget the things causing me anxiety.
