About Me
I am a married mum to two sons aged nine and ten. Our family live in sunny Hastings, New Zealand and I work part time in Accounts. I had a heart attack due to SCAD (Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection) in December 06, and have had two drug eluting stents fitted. Our youngest son, who is now nine years old, was diagnosed with Classic Autism at the age of four, and attends a Special School here in Hastings.

Close Heart Attack
I had an MI due to SCAD (Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection) in Dec 06. I had another MI during angio to fit the stents five days later. A big shock at the time, but I am doing very well now. I still take Metoprolol, Aspirin, a Statin and Omeprazole.

Close Autism / Autism Spectrum
Our nine year old son has classic autism. He was diagnosed at the age of four, and at the time had limited speech and lots of rituals. He also had several meltdowns every day. Now he is much calmer, alot more verbal and doing quite well considering where we were five years ago.. He attends a Special School here in Hastings, New Zealand.

- Jamie's meltdowns were so huge, that no matter what we tried we could find no way to get through to him. So in the end, completely exhausted, we actually 'gave in' to Jamie alot, instead of trying to fight him and teach him the 'right' way to behave. We think this inadvertent tactic may have eventually resulted in him gaining a bit of trust in us, and finally he began to respond to us. It took many years, but it has been worth it.

Open Neurofibromatosis
Our 9 year old son has seven cafe o lait spots, and our paediatrician says they may be 'markers' for NF1. No other signs at this stage. One cafe au lait on his left arm extends from his shoulder right down to his elbow and is getting more prominent as time goes on.
Open Other Heart Problems
Type: Heart PalpitationsI had a heart attack in Dec 06, which was found to have been caused by SCAD (Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection). It is apparently a rare condition, and I would like to meet others like me.
Treatments
- Metoprolol Working / Worked
- 95mg Daily. Makes me tired but keeps my heart beat regular
