    • About Me

I've been diagnosed with glossopharyngeal neuralgia (9th cranial nerve), an unfortunate cousin of trigeminal neuralgia! I am always on the lookout for natural remedies that can offer me more relief. I currently am taking cymbalta and neurontin/gabapentin with only about %70 percent effectiveness from my daily pain. I thank the Lord for my loving family and continue to seek out what lessons I may learn from this disease.

      hi tiffles
i use a lidocaine spray for the inside of my nose. i have atypical trigeminal. got a prescription for this from my gp and a local apothecary had to fill it since pharmacys don't generally don't carry this is spray form. i also take vitamine b 12 to help support nervous system and Native Remedies triple complex nerve tonic and sciatigon you might want to research those too.
blessings for pain free days for you

Hello, I don't have the same neuralgia as you, but I understand your frustration with meds. Have you done your research online? i did a quick look and it says the you should be following the same treatment as TN patients. I take Gabapentin and it helps within a week and as it builds up in my system it usually kicks in fully by 2 weeks. If it doesn't, then I know I need more. Here's a link about your condition with a few more links for further research: http://facial-neuralgia.org/condit...
      Wishing you well,
      Keisha

    • Close Trigeminal Neuralgia

I was diagnosed with glossopharyngeal neuralgia but this is the closest group to what i have. Hope to make some friends and get more info about cranial nerve disorders.

      Treatments

      Cymbalta Somewhat Helpful
this drug works but tends to take a LOOONG time before i feel better...thought i know for a fact that it contributes to the lessening of pain.
      Neurontin Considering
not quite sure if this is adding to the benefits of the cymbalta but since i started to make an improvement while on both i decided to keep at it lest i ruin the progress
