Close Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionI've struggled with chronic dysthymia since my teens. I've experienced several major depressive episodes. The last one I had in summer of 2008 has left me reeling. I am receiving treatment for, but I feel like crap the majority of the time. I haven't lost hope that things will get better, that I will get better, but I cry every single day. I can't seem to pick up the pieces. I think about suicide often. I don't want to hurt my loved ones.
Treatments
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Somewhat Helpful
- Effexor Somewhat Helpful
- I spent many years on Effexor, which worked well in the beginning, as they all have. Then it stopped, like they all do.
- Positive Thinking Somewhat Helpful
- Prozac Not Working
- Did not help the depression, did help me gain a bunch of unwanted pounds!
- Psychotherapy Somewhat Helpful
- Support from Friends & Family Somewhat Helpful
- Trazodone Working / Worked
- Used in conjunction with another antidepressant to aid with sleep. It did help me sleep, but I remained groggy in the day time as well.
- Wellbutrin Not Working
- Currently taking this, it's not helping, but at least I can enjoy being intimate with my boyfriend.
- Writing Somewhat Helpful
- Zoloft Somewhat Helpful
- Zoloft worked like a charm in the beginning, and for several months afterward as well, but it stopped working.
Close Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
I haven't been able to receive very much treatment or understanding regarding PTSD. Combined with depression, life is really hard lately.
Open Families of Prisoners
Seeking support/understanding with this difficult situation.

Treatments
- Psychotherapy Somewhat Helpful
- Personal Trainer Working / Worked
- Worked great. She helped me take care of myself in a healthy way. I just cant afford her and dont seem to have what it takes to keep it up on my own.
