Treatments
- Acupuncture Working / Worked
- Currently undergoing treatment, but seams to be working very well.
- Aspirin Not Working
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Not Working
- Caffeine Working / Worked
- I have been using caffeine to help treat migraines for years- seems to help speed medication along.
- Excedrin Not Working
- Fioricet Working / Worked
- Magnesium Somewhat Helpful
- Taking a regular supplement of magnesium helped keep migraines away quite effectively for several years- with just the odd one popping up here and here. It's really wonderful for keeping them away, but when one shows up, it isn't much help at all.
- Maxalt Not Working
- I tried a full Rx of Maxalt hoping that it would work, but didn't have success. Maxalt partially relieved the head pain, but caused such intense muscle and vascular stiffness that it came back much worse. Not a good drug for me.
- Midrin Working / Worked
- Midrin is great. I used to swear by Migrin-A, a former generic version of Midrin, worked with amazing speed and complete relief, but I cant find it anywhere anymore- they might have stopped making it. The new generic that seems to be everywhere does nothing- if you're going to take this medication, I suggest that you get the brand.
- Oxycodone Working / Worked
- I am using percocet in combination with fioricet and I am finally able to engage in a somewhat normal routine which is a relief after spending a literal 18 hours in bed with severe pain. It has all of the negative side effects of opiates but it has allowed me to to live at least a seminormal life these last few weeks.
