About Me
I have knowingly had Crohn's disease for 6 and a half years now. I feel blessed as it hasn't been as severe as it could be. My mom has Crohn's too, which is kinda crazy, but a source of encouragment. I hope to start a family as soon as my current flare is under control!

Treatments
- Asacol Working / Worked
- I took Pentasa for four years and was in blessed remission in that time. Then last spring 2008 I begin to flare for some reason(maybe stress I'm thinking due to mother-in law passing away.).
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Somewhat Helpful
- I try to avoid all insoluble fiber when I know I'm flaring. My Gi-doc told me most of our digestion enzymes aren't properly functioning when were flaring so I avoid dairy and it seems to cause less discomfort.
- Dietary Modification Not Working
- I tried the Specific Carbohydrate Diet when I was first diagnosed 6yrs ago, and practiced it religiously for 5mnths. It did not work for me, and I decided I was tired of torturing myself since it was not helping. I lost a bunch of weight on it, which I couldn't afford to lose.
- Entocort Somewhat Helpful
- I took entocort for 4 months and had partial relief from symptoms. Then my gi doc started me on Prednisone.
- Flagyl Somewhat Helpful
- Have taken flagyl a couple times, and seemed to help the flare some.
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- It takes care of all the inflammation/pain/fatigue for me, but it has horrible side effects as we all know. Am starting Humira soon as I can't seem to get off prednisone without flaring.
- Probiotics Somewhat Helpful
- I take my Probiotics daily for five years now, and I like to think their helping some.
- Humira Considering
- Am suppose to start Humira in 3 days but am freaked about the possible side effects. Prednisone has terrible ones too. Am trying to pick my poison! I am a part time nanny and am afraid I will be sick often due to the immune suppression of this drug. Am looking for encouraging words concerning Humira.
