    • About Me

I'm a certified aux. nurse & paramedic. I live far out in the landscape and I work at a somatic care unit with EMS service. I do also have a part-time job as a funeral service consultant - and end up doing everything from transport and tranfser to talking with relatives and participate in memorial services. It works out well but after all, my kid needs a mom too. My life is kind of circling around that... Stress only means one thing: You do a poor job and have to redo it.

    • The boys and the two nuts

      Mood October 23, 2009 4:49pm

Two boys were playing in the woods. They collected nuts - plenty enough for them both to play with when they came home. On their way home, they came …

      Roger the Minister - verse

Proverb:27:10: Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.

    • Close Bereavement
      Type: Loss of a Parent

Loss of parents - one suicide and one cancer, loss of child by miscarriage

      Treatments

      Grief Counseling Working / Worked
I hesitated at first but once I got that far, the psychologist had me realize that I was going to be able to adjust to life as served.
      Keeping Busy Somewhat Helpful
To keep busy is sometimes to keep on running away from the problem, but to me it can also help me put things aside long enough to get a broader perspective
      Psychotherapy Working / Worked
It took its time to "man" myself up to do it, but it isn't as scary as it sounds. I found a great psychologist and all in all it resulted in me finding myself
      Remembering Somewhat Helpful
To remember lost and loved ones is extrememly important. One day it doesn't have to be something sad. Once through the saddest part, you won't feel guilty of smiling, laughing or living life to the fullest.
Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
To be honest, the greatest support has been my stepmother. Other family members are of great support too once you find out where they are in grief.
      Time Not Working
As I see it, it took me 20 years to even start working on the loss of my mother - but I had to grow into the understanding of her suicide and mature enough to know why such a choice is even something some can consider. As for the loss of my unborn baby, it took time and acknowledgement - but we are all different!
    • Close Pre-menstrual Syndrome (PMS)

The heavier form of PMS called pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) - now under control thanks to physical exercise, contraceptives and low-dose antidepressants. Still learning to know how it works!

      Treatments

      Evening Primrose Oil Not Working
Well, that didn't really work at all!
      Oral Contraceptives Working / Worked
It keeps the worst hormonal swings away.
    • Open Fibromyalgia

Going from 6 tender points to 14 in the matter of 4 years, I'm interested in finding my way in lingering the aches. "Where do you hurt today" is no longer a question!
