BMI Goal Mood
Thursday, June 11, 2009 | A General Update story

I get on the Wii Fit every day that calculates my BMI, so I think it will be another daily marker.

30-34.9 - obese

35-39.9 - severly obese

40-49.9 - morbidly obese

50-59.9 -  super obese

So my goal for right now is to get out of the super obese category which will happen at a weight of about 265.

Hey, great goal! I'm 5'6", so am in the morbidly obese category. Geez, that sounds horrible. I have to get under 250 to get down to the next level. It's just a label, but I like goals. They are motivating....so....WTG on setting this one!!!

Breaking a large goal into several smaller goals makes it so much easier to tackle. I try not to focus on all the weight I have to lose at once too. I don't have a Wii Fit, but I think they're awesome, and I'd love to try one out. You are on your way--and very close to your goal of leaving super obese in the dust!

Mid-Week Update Mood
Wednesday, June 10, 2009 | A General Update story

Since my weigh in on Monday, I have had thoughts about how slow this is going.  I thought about an even that I have coming up in August, and that if I crash dieted, I could lose some seriuos weight by then.  Honestly, I am not even fooling myself any more.  I have had lots of important events come and go, and I was fat for all of them.  If I crash diet, it will be the same.

I also have a Wii Fit that takes my weight each day.  So I was up a bit today and was discouraged even though I know weight fluctuates daily.  It was enough that made me want to go snort down a whole 2'liter of coke, but alas, I didn't.  I am sure by next Monday, I will be down another pound because I am eating half of what I was eating two weeks ago.

June 8  2279/5

June 9  2069/60

I am still not making my 1900 calorie goal each day.  It is mostly off by just one something sweet.  Either a glass of coke or a candy bar.  So I need to pick something and do away with it each day or buy the really small york peppermint patties instead of eating a big one.

Watching the scale and getting frustrated if the number goes up...is a big problem for me. Whenever this happens, I am always at risk with the thought "I might as well eat"....

So...I'm not going to weigh daily. I'm hoping weighing every 2 weeks will show me some loss consistency.

Like you said, the weight fluctuation is normal. It could be water, hormones, or muscle gain. Who knows!

I do believe if we keep going, we absolutely will lose weight. I sure wasn't losing with what I was doing before.

"Special Events" have always been another challenge for me. I often stress so much about an upcoming trip or meeting....instead of losing, I end up gaining. Stupid!!!!

I have a couple of things coming up in July, and I'm not going to try to starvation diet. The idea of starvation dieting alone is enough to make me eat more.

I don't know how many "farewell to food" days of overeating I've had before beginning a starvation diet (and never got around to doing)! Have you ever done that?

    Have a great day tomorrow....Truth

Monday Weigh In:

279.8 (June 8)

280.9 (June 1)

Well,  I did it.  Not only did I complete a week and keep at it, but I lost 1.1lbs.  I set a two week goal for 2lbs (1lb/week) so I am well on my way to making it.  To be honest, I expected to lose a lot more weight.  When you do a low carb or an all liquid diet, you tend to lose from 8-15lbs in the first two week.  I know most of that is water and not actually fat, but it looks good on the scale and gives you this big mental boost, then you go reward yourself with some food (heheh, or at least that is what I started to do, so I never made it past the two week mark after doing Atkins for the first time).

I honestly didn't feel deprived this week.  Sure, I would have like to have drank a two liter of coke every day, like I was doing on some days before I started dieting.  I am still having coke, but I poor it into a small glass that I know only holds 1.5 cups, so I know exactly how many calories are in each cup I drink.  This makes it easier to write down, and allows me to realize exactly how much I am having and not mindlessly sucking it down.

    WTG on the weight loss!!!

Any loss is a victory....and not feeling deprived is so so important to hang in for the long haul.

It's cool that we are about the same weight. You can really relate to what I go through being this heavy. I'm 5' 6", and at one point, I weighed 295. Being at 272 is still very obese, but better than 295!

I actually put my leftover rice in a measuring cup to eat it and am proud of myself LOL.

Keep on going, you are doing great!

Congrats on the weight loss hun every little bit counts. I always say a step in the right direction is worth 5 steps in the wrong. Just keep up the good work, and know that the only way we can fail is if we give up. When I started that was my first goal don't give up no matter what. I wish you so much luck, and I know you have it in you to do this. HUGS keep going...
