Journal Entry for July 4, 2009 Mood
Saturday, July 4, 2009
I had a pretty good day today. I woke up early and did 100 steps on the treadmill. I had my grandbabies all day, so didn't have time for much. Had a bowl of fiber 1 cereal with 2% milk(I usually use skim, but my son bought 2% and I didn't want it to waste). for lunch I had some store bought tamales, salad, and cranberry juice. I didn't finish all of the tamales because they weren't that good. snacked on a few whole wheat cookies and had a ham and cheese sancwich on sprouted grain bread for dinner. I think I will have a glass of juice to take my meds with before bedtime. I didn't count calories, but I'm pretty satisfied with the portion control. This morning I started to reach for my usual large bowl, then stopped and got a smaller bowl, so I was proud of myself for starting to become aware that I can eat smaller portions. A month ago I would not only have used a larger bowl but would have gone back for seconds. Still don't see the scale moving much, but I believe it will in time. I'm really tired so don't know if I will do the treadmill tonight, maybe just lift weights. Maybe I'll just do like 50 steps or something. I hate to start with the excuses.  Anyway, thank you all for being so supportive. Love you all.

Glad to hear you had a pretty good day. Bet those grandbabies keep you hopping! Sounds like you made good food choices, especially with the SMALLER bowl! That takes real discipline! You're getting more control! Even if you didn't get anymore treadmill or weights done, you started the day out right. Take pride in that. This is a slow process for all of us; bit by bit we make a little progress. We are all in this together, and I'm here for you anytime!
Hang in there, you're doing great!
    Hope you enjoy the 4th!
    Hugs and love,
    Becky

MMMM I love tamales...but the homemade kind. Where I used to live, the tamale guy would come by our office and sell his wife's homemade tamales by the dozen..and they were just out of this world...MISS THAT LOL

WTG on grabbing the small bowl. Progress on portion control. I used to use a large bowl and have seconds as well....but I am fat because of my GENES....(right!) LOL

I started exercising last night....am trying the Tabata method....which supposedly increases your metabolism for up to 2 days. My blood sugar was better than expected this morning and I am thinking the exercise did that!

Have a great 4th and keep up the great work...reinventing ourselves is only done one step at a time....

    Hugs

You are doing really well, congrats! I hope you have a good 4th tonight. Right on truth about the tamales...my 'adopted' mom (really my brother's mother-in-law) used to make them every year around the holidays. She let me help once, we all laughed like crazy at how awful mine looked, but OH were they all tasty:)
