I am an active 34 yr old female who loves to exercise & work. I had a knee injury 20 years ago. Over the past few years I was diagnosed w. ITband issues & femoral patella syndrome. So in March I went to the doctor b/c my R hip hurt & the pain was waking me up at night. I had an MRI which showed a bulging disc at L5-S1. I went to the chiropractor who made my R leg go numb & I have been having numbness & tingling to my R leg for the past 7 weeks. I also sometimes have numbness & tingling in my arms. The only bulge was in L5-S1. Rest of my spine is okay.
So I had 1 week w/ only minimal symptoms but I can no longer run & do the exercises I love. I also am getting conflicting info on how to treat this problem & I actually don't know my diagnosis. I walked 3 days in a row. The last day I knew I went to far but I thought I was getting better. Today my leg is numb & tingling. Pain isn't so bad but the n/t drive me crazy. Should I try neurontin? Will that only take care of a symptoms & not treat the problem? Will I gain weight? What are the side effects. I am so sad. I cry all the time. I was dating but now I don't want to talk to anyone. I'm on modified at work but I have no idea how I can be on my feet 8 hours.
This is so unfair. I can't believe what I took forganted before. I've been ruled out for other demlinating diseases I think. MRI of my brain was negative. Don't think I have MS. Will I ever get better? Please help. I am so sad & lost.

Welcome to DS!! WOW! you're really young to have such problems! My son, who is 41, just had surgery for a bulging disk, it was pushing on a nerve and he had a lot of pain in his legs. He's a Detective with the Police dept and sits at a desk at lot. He was in the hospital overnight, now has to walk a mile a day and be off work for at least two weeks. Doc told him sitting will be painful for awhile. He seems to be doing great but is still on strong pain pills. You might want to talk to your Doc about surgery.
