Journal Mood
Saturday, June 6, 2009
Walked alittle today & went for a ride w/ a friend. Then we walked some but I felt like my lower back started to hurt. Can feel a big knot in it. R leg okay so far. No numbness or tingling but I am really scared as to what to do. I have to go back to work on modified or else take temporary disability. I really don't have any concrete answers as to what the hell is wrong. I have a mild bulging disc in L5-S1 on the L side but my Right leg gets numb, tingly & burns all the way down to my toes. I have been ruled out for m/s. Sometimes my upper extremities feel numb & tingly. I don't have any pinched nerves in the rest of my spine. Should I take the neurontin if the numbness & tingling are getting better? Am I progressing or am I getting worse or have I plataued? Need help & answers but I don't know whered to turn. So sad I want to be out enjoying the day, instead I stuck focusing on this but how can I focus on anything else. God I hate this. I want to be better.

Tired Mood
Wednesday, June 3, 2009 | A General Update story
Took a flexeril last night at bed. Thought it would help my body rest & help w/ the sore muscles. Slept okay but I hate the way it makes me feel (groggy). Going to see neurologist today for a nerve conduction test in my arms. I am so over this. I just want to be able to go back to work & exercise. I don't see how I can be on my feet for 8 hours. Will this ever end? I so want to be better. This has gone on way to long. So Sad,alone & scared. My leg doesn't hurt but I feel shaky & my L lower back started to hurt. I hate this.

So Scared Mood
Tuesday, June 2, 2009

I am an active 34 yr old female who loves to exercise & work. I had a knee injury 20 years ago. Over the past few years I was diagnosed w. ITband issues & femoral patella syndrome. So in March I went to the doctor b/c my R hip hurt & the pain was waking me up at night. I had an MRI which showed a bulging disc at L5-S1. I went to the chiropractor who made my R leg go numb & I have been having numbness & tingling to my R leg for the past 7 weeks. I also sometimes have numbness & tingling in my arms. The only bulge was in L5-S1. Rest of my spine is okay.

So I had 1 week w/ only minimal symptoms but I can no longer run & do the exercises I love. I also am getting conflicting info on how to treat this problem & I actually don't know my diagnosis. I walked 3 days in a row. The last day I knew I went to far but I thought I was getting better. Today my leg is numb & tingling. Pain isn't so bad but the n/t drive me crazy. Should I try neurontin? Will that only take care of a symptoms & not treat the problem? Will I gain weight? What are the side effects. I am so sad. I cry all the time. I was dating but now I don't want to talk to anyone. I'm on modified at work but I have no idea how I can be on my feet 8 hours.

This is so unfair. I can't believe what I took forganted before. I've been ruled out for other demlinating diseases I think. MRI of my brain was negative. Don't think I have MS. Will I ever get better? Please help. I am so sad & lost.

Welcome to DS!! WOW! you're really young to have such problems! My son, who is 41, just had surgery for a bulging disk, it was pushing on a nerve and he had a lot of pain in his legs. He's a Detective with the Police dept and sits at a desk at lot. He was in the hospital overnight, now has to walk a mile a day and be off work for at least two weeks. Doc told him sitting will be painful for awhile. He seems to be doing great but is still on strong pain pills. You might want to talk to your Doc about surgery.
