    • Ray of Sunshine

      From tbiKelly October 22

texas, Hi As a Tennessean by birth, Texan by blood transfusion, survivor of 6 back surgeries ans a TBI (traumatic brain injury) I sending you this ray of sunshine to remind you that "God" is never going to give you more than you can shoulder, even though at the time you beg to differ. I too have been there done that, but have recently learned that these potholes in the road of life are "Gods" way of preparing us for our heavenly jobs. After my TBI, I too was in a wheelchair that I was unable to wheel independently due to left side paralysis from the TBI, so I had to wheel myself with just my feet, ran over my toes a lot but finally was able to practice walking again, granted with a cane or walker but still walking. While your mind is telling you are ready to do that which you want to do, your body is telling you different. Take the time, let your body heal then give it back to your mind. Where in KY are you and it MAY be possible either I or a friend may be of some assistance?

    • Prayer

      From PrincessPi June 25

As a fellow sufferer, I will keep you in my prayers. I will pray that you don't give up hope in the future and faith in God's promises. Live for today, enjoy today, tomorrow is out of our hands. Let God worry about that. I pray that your children will give you the will to live. Suffering is not fun, but even in suffering there are good days. Cherish those good days. Love and Hugs, Pi

    • Thumbs Up

      From longhaul247 June 3

hello. well your down and thinking its time to quit. You don't like the hand you've been dealt. Me either. I've been where you are. I'm disabled and my father was too. I saw how he became self-centered over time from the drugs but also from the way we had to organize everything around his disability. And i saw him shrink into negative thinking. Negative thinking is a fail safe argument. When a positive idea comes up you can just shoot it down with three negative ones why that won't work for you. And your feeling powerless to change because you haven't accepted your disability and you want yourself normal or nothing. That all or nothing thinking is negative too. Heres the Big Bomb. You probably have become an addict and its affecting your mind beyond your ability to control it. I've been there too. But I'm lucky I've gotten back into a 12 step program I was in 20 years ago and feel lucky to be alive and useful. They help one to see the spiritual controls the mental and physical not the other way around. But if sobriety is not an option for you then what? The answer is acceptance. Did you know that your diet has everything to do with some of your conditions. The mediterranian diet is the best. Lean meats, fresh fruit and vegetables, whole grains and lots of water. Stay away from processed foods in cans, junk food, sweets, candy , alcohol, smoking and too much coffee. I don't drink soft drinks either, they deplete the body of vital nutrients, vitamins and minerals. Back to acceptance. It is the key to my relationship with God today. I never sit around and ask him what to do. Rather i do what i can to be useful, speaking, listening, giving advice or working on the computer to help others. I leave the results up to God. That's God's will for me. I must keep my mind off my rights and expectations and the past. Living in today one day at a time takes courage and a relationship with him. He's there just talk to him and look for him everywhere. As you draw nearer to him he will reveal more of himself to you. Remember this and you'll see you never had it so good. Peace be unto you and God bless you and your family.
