I am a retired Army Colonel with an MSW. I had lung CA and had my right upper lobe removed in Dec '08. Three days later I had a pulmonary embolus (still in hospital, thank God). Have been on warfarin ever since. Scheduled to go off it sometime this month. Politically, I am a liberal. I rescue Boxer dogs and currently have 3.

For support in increasing lung function following lung surgery and PE
Treatments
- Heparin Working / Worked
- Will go off it in July if everything goes as planned. Right now I'm taking Prednisone for a lumbar stenosis issue and I want to get off that because it inhibits the effectiveness of Heparin.
- Lovenox Working / Worked
- Will take it in lieu of Coumadin for the rest of my life. Oncologist has more confidence in Lovenox with cancer patients.
- Coumadin Working / Worked
- PE suffered 12/08 following removal of the right upper lobe of my lung. Coumadin ever since.
Close Lung Cancer
Large tumor, adenocarcinoma, discovered during routine physical. Removed right upper lobe of my lung. Experienced a PE. No chemo, no radiation. Doing Lung Rehab Program.
Treatments
- Carboplatin Working / Worked
- combined with Alitma; did nothing!
- Tarceva Working / Worked
- too early to tell, but no side effects at all.
