Running Mood
Tuesday, June 23, 2009 | A Positive story

I have officially begun week 3 of my "learn to run" program.

I began on June 9th: woke up at 6am to hit the road before work. I power-walked for 5 minutes then ran for one minute then walked for one minute and repeate these intervals 10 times for a total of 10 minutes of running in a 30-minute session. It was hard! I was totally out of breath by the end. I did this one other time that first week and then on Sunday I power-walked 10k!!

Week 2: I walked/ran 4 times! I am really proud of that. The last 2 sessions, I added 2 minutes to my running total so on interval #5 and #9 I ran for 2 minutes.  On Sunday I power walked 9k.

So here I am on week 3. I walked/ran yesterday (Monday) and added another minute to my total so I ranfor a total of 13 minutes within the 30-minute workout.

I feel really great! I love how quickly I am improving. Running is wonderful. There is such an instant gratification there and it is easy to fit into my busy schedule. My hope is that it becomes a natural part of my life and that it becomes the way in which I will get a handle on my nutrition and fitness and finally gain control of my eating problems and stop the vicious cycle of yo-yo dieting.

Yes the endorphin rush makes it worthwhile... and of course the physical benefits. I want to be able to run 5k (non-stop) by the end of the summer. Maybe I really will be ready for a marathon one day! :)

Sounds like you are in great shape. I recently joined a gym and lost 15 lbs, it feels wonderful to fit into the "skinny jeans" again lol

Wow that's great! Good for you. I have 40 pounds to lose and I have lost 6 so far. Actually for someone who has 40 pounds to lose, I guess I'm in pretty good shape. I hope to one day be in great shape and wear "skinny jeans."

Well, it wasn't easy. I enjoy ice cream,chocolate...any type of sweets really. But I got sick of looking frumpy. I feel like a new woman now! any piks to share? It would create a much "warmer" profile.
