Close Bipolar Disorder

severe depression and mood swings. tried every antidepressant and nothing worked so I started smoking pot instead which made me worse. My new doc thinks im bipolar so now I'm on lamictal, ativan, prozac. And he just added Adderall bc I might have ADD. I am interested in meeting anyone who has taking these meds or this combo of meds.

Treatments

Ativan Working / Worked

Ativan definitely helped reduce my anxiety. I was only on .5 mg at first and that didn't really work (I'm female, 5'6, 150lb) so my doc bumped it up to 1 mg and that worked well. It does cause drowsiness but it wasn't enough to make me fall asleep.

Celexa Not Working

Tried this over 5 years ago and it made me go psychotic...and I had never had a psychotic episode before. Celexa made me want to die.

Lamictal Working / Worked

When I am actually taking the medicine as prescribed, it works pretty well. After a year or so, I always trick myself in to thinking that I don't need the meds anymore...and a few days later I'm out of control.

Seroquel Not Working

prescribed by my doc for sleep/depression. Side effects were weight gain and night sweats (which I have never had before in my life). I only took this medication for a couple weeks because it did not help me sleep...which was the primary reason my doc prescribed it...but I don't think sleep is what it is most commonly prescribed for.

Adderall Working / Worked

Just started taking 10mg 2x/day. Side effects- DRY MOUTH, acted like a laxative, complete loss of appetite,feeling of euporhia and energy within30 minutes of taking. It does help me study and focus...and completely lose track of time. I have not been able to sleep well since I started taking it...waking up a lot during the night...racing thoughts and trouble falling asleep. It says to take last dose 4-6 hours before bed but I stopped at noon on one day and I still couldn't get to sleep.
