About Me
I married my best friend and number 1 fan on 4/12/08- a day before our 3 yr anniversary. We started trying for a family a month after the wedding knowing that it may be difficult to conceive due to my endometriosis. We found out in Jan. '09 that I have PCOS as well. *Lovely* (sarcasm) We had our first IUI on 6/8/09 and we got our BFP on 6/18/09. We couldn't be more excited!

Close Endometriosis
I have suffered from endometriosis for 6 years (diagnosed for 3). It's so frustrating having this syndrome because there are no outward symptoms, other than the bloating. Not too many women openly discuss these issues nor have somebody to discuss them with.
Treatments
- Acupuncture Working / Worked
- The most relaxing thing I have ever done. After not having a period on my own in 6 years I did it by myself doing acupuncture once a week through an entire cycle. Its my little miracle.
- Surgery Working / Worked
- I've had two surgeries 3 years apart. Both have helped tremendously. I had a lot of swelling/bloating for a few days post surgery. The pain has decreased significantly and I'm not cramping all but one day per cycle. AMAZING!
Close Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
To give and get support. I've had endometriosis for 6 years- 3 diagnosed- and was diagnosed with PCOS on 1/8/09. My doc thinks that the PCOS actually came first and led to the endo. I'm not a text book case so it took awhile to diagnose.
Treatments
- Laparoscopic Surgery Working / Worked
- Had this for endo but ended up "buzzing" the ovaries while the doc was in there. (Reduced the number of excess folicles/cysts on ovaries in the hopes of achieving ovulation.)
- Acupuncture Working / Worked
- I have been doing this for a year for endo and started accessing points related to the endocrine system to help with the out of wack hormones of pcos and lost about 10 pounds!
Open Infertility
Type: Ovarian IssuesWe are entering our second year of trying to conceive and 10th month of IF treatment. It would be nice to anonomously have a group of supporters that know what we are going through.
Treatments
- Clomid Somewhat Helpful
- Helped me ovulate in a timely manner but never resulted in pregnancy. Nasty side effects too.
- Femara Working / Worked
- Ovulating earlier in my cycle. No side effects up to this point.
- Folic Acid Too Soon to Tell
- I was told to take it to prevent birth defects of the spinal cord.
- Follistim Working / Worked
- Used in conjunction with Femara. We are going in 4 days for an IUI. So it's working!
- Ovulation Predictor Kit Working / Worked
- Tells when I'm ovulating. That's about it.
- Progesterone Working / Worked
- Used this hormone in oil to help start cycles (I don't have a period on my own). It worked until I had a GIANT cyst develop.
- Acupuncture Working / Worked
- Reduces cramps related to endometriosis. Very relaxing. Love it.
