    • About Me

I am a 16 year old high school student. I used to love to figure skate, play hockey, play badminton, snowboard, and run. I also loved school and being with friends. My life changed drastically last in November of 2008 after a hockey injury. I found out that I have bulging disks and a stress fracture in L5. I did 5 weeks of spinal decompression, which helped with my walking. Now I am in a brace for 6-8 months (I am 4 weeks in). I also started taking the antidepressant Prozac and it has helped IMMENSELY. I am also seeing a neurologist because of severe leg, foot, arm, and hand pain. Also, for headaches on the right side of my head, face, and jaw. We are still waiting for an MRI of my spine and head to check that out. I also suffer from raynaud's.

      From rrose369 Friday

I really hope you are feeling better soon and that the brace helps. You are so young that it should help you to heal faster. \ I noticed your info that you are fromKirkland Lake and that is where I went to school too. Although that was back in the mid seventies!I went to KLCVI for grade9 and 10 after King George Elementary. I hope you feel better soon!!!

You have been through alot in your years but remember 1 thing.....that that does not kill us makes us stronger. My sisters went through a lot growing up and she went to a shrink and he told her that she was a weed because she had gone through all of that and she was still going strong. You are just like a weed - growing strong. I pray that things will keep get better for you. God bless and lots of love........Margie

I am 16 years old and I figure skated and also started playing hockey this year. I also enjoyed running, badminton, and snowboarding. I injured my back from repetitive movements and falling at skating and from getting hit in a hockey game. This happened in November of 2008. I have a pars defect in my L5, a herniated disk, and severe sciatic problems. I have severe pain and am currently on morphine to help control it.
