Close Myasthenia Gravis
To share what we have learned about mg and treatments over the past 12 years as my daughter has had mg; To get support when we have questions and are experiencing something new.
Treatments
- Azathioprine Not Working
- worked for several years prior to her first pregnancy; did not take it between the two pregnancies about 3 years; has not worked since 2nd pregnancy
- Mestinon Working / Worked
- It helps, but does not take care of all of the problems.
- Thymectomy Somewhat Helpful
- My daughter had a thymectomy just a month after her diagnosis at age 19. Do not know how bad she might have been if she had not had it. It did not take care of her mg problems.
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- I have been on 50 mg of prednisone daily for two years. I was able to drop it to 40 mg daily but cannot seem to get by with any less. Side effects include weight gain but it is better than not being able to get out of bed.
