Depressing? Mood
Wednesday, August 26, 2009 | A Frustrating story

Monday was the big day. The GI doc put me out and did an EGD placement of the pill camera- so far no results. The bowel prep was yet again a grueling event. Immediately upon waking from the procedure I had to snap out of the meds, throw on my clothes and race to my MD appointment- an utter wast of time.

I had a list of symptoms ready to go so I wouldn't forget- he gave it a quick glance before tossing it to the side.

Every complaint I had he answered with depression.

Don't get me wrong- I'm depressed a bit about being so sick, but emotionally I'm great- physically not so much.

He handed me 2 referrals- one for a Rheumatologist and one for a Phychiatrist. Apparently if you have pain that can't be explained by normal injury you must be depressed or have fibromyalgia.

Hell maybe I do.

I saw my counselor today and discussed this with her and she's having me take an MMPI test although she doesn't feel I'm depressed she doesn't want to rule it out. She said she would share the results with my PMD and try to help me find a doctor who is interested in helping his patients vs pushing them off on other MD's.

He cut my sleeping pill, wants me to go off of the ultram (the only pain med I can actually tolerate) and wants me to take a low dose antidepressent for sleep: Elavil

He wouldn't order anything helpful aside from an antibiotic for my sinus infection.

How many of us have been brushed off? I'm anemic and tired and in pain- sure that's enough to make anyone depressed- but it doesn't really cure what's happening, now does it?!

A Good Day! Mood
Monday, June 22, 2009 | A Positive story

We came up with a great idea to help our children through the summer without daycare (now that I'm home from work for the summer).

My 7 year old and I spent a good hour making lists of "play time activities", "chores", and "rules/punishments" so that we can make a daily schedule. The idea is that they will all behave and get along better if we add some consitent structure to the mix.

Tomorrow we work on coloring the daily schedule so the kids have a personalized version of it to hang in their rooms as a reminder of their daily tasks.

I also drove all over town- I picked up a bike trailer to pull my daughter along for bike rides, and picked my Yorkie up from the dog sitter. While we were visiting the Wisconsin crowd we had him at the sitter because he's still being house trained. We don't want him peeing up someone elses house, even though we have him in a "belly band" in the house just in case.

Summer is looking good already!
