Grave visit Mood
Monday, August 24, 2009 | A General Update story

Hi friends,

I visited Claire's grave in Ohio last week for the first time since the funeral (5 months).  All of the emotions came back as if she died yesterday. I was overwhelmed, but it is something that i had to do and one more "first" now behind me.  I went back 2 more times and it wasn't as hard.  I think it helped my healing process.  Tomorrow will be tough because she won't be here for my son's graduation in DC - she would be so proud of him.  I'll just have to be there for both of us.  Well, back to FL later this week and getting ready to move.

Bill, I know that must have been tough! But as you said, it must be done. It is hard to go to milestone events (like graduation) by yourself. But it is possible, hard, but possible. My daughter and SIL adopted a son that was born a month after Syl passed away. I will always be saddened taht he will nwver have known her this side of Jordan. But keep going my friend, I'm praying for you.

    Bill,
As Earn said it is tough, and the milestone events are really hard! Our SIL graduated from Law School in May, and it was great for him and our daughter, and me too, but, sad for me that Joe was not there. Our twin grandsons are Seniors in High School this year.........one of them plays football --- which was Joe's absolutely favorite sport! I've already had some sad moments thinking that Joe is going to be missing Cody's games. Joe loved our high school football --where he also played. He very seldom missed a game. Anyway, there are always events that bring our thoughts back to our loved spouses. Since, this is only 5 months for you -- it is especially hard. I remember! It really will become easier, as the months go by. Just keep on working through your grief, that is the only way. The Lord is with you. Be safe on your way home. Joely
