Insurance won't pay.. Mood
Tuesday, June 30, 2009 | A Frustrating story

Well I've just found out that my insurance won't pay for an MRI which would determine what is causing my lower back pain.  I'm at a total loss now... Still feeling this lousy pain. Doctors don't want to continue to prescribe pain pills for me.  I'll probably see a pain-specialist to manage my "endo" pain if that's what's causing it.  I don't want anymore laps, had one already. So much for the hysterectomy.  I DON'T want my ovaries removed.  The quality of my life is bordering on dismal. I try to remain positive, but it's so hard. Should I try another gyn?  Will my insurance even cover other procedures other another doctor?  I see myself constantly running to the ER just so I can get a supply of pain pills.  And each ER visit is about $500 from my own pocket.

I really don't know what to do.  I just want to be pain-free for at least 2-3 weeks out of the month. Why is this so difficult?  I'm starting to think I had a lousy gynocologist.  She didn't do to good on the first lap.. fibroid tumors still showed months later on the ultrasound.  And now with this hysterectomy, it's like WHY didn't she look beyond my uterus itself to try to remove ALL ENDO regardless of how small?  Did she even attempt to?

Are there any doctors on this Board??  What should I do? Removing my ovaries is NOT an option.  I went thru a drug-induced menopause with Lupron, and it affected me terribly.

Some doctors have more pull that others i found out. And, fight your insurance on that! I've had a lot of dental problems- when i was young, and now. And, She has always gotten my insurance to pay for certain things they normally wouldn't. Sometimes we had to change doctors, but my mom has always managed to do it somehow. Don't give up!!

OMG, you poor thing!! I just happened to read this when I got on here... find another doctor NOW! I went through a bunch until I found a specialist who believed me and is helping me to manage my endo.

Most of us do NOT want to be on painkillers! I would love to be totally pain free and medication free. There are so many crummy side effects, but you have to be able to at least function!

I had surgery, and then when the endo wasn't resolved, he said we needed to do another surgery... so I thought "this isn't right..." I found my doctor now who told me that it's MY body and we can work together to find the right course of treatment for me.

Just to hear that was a huge weight off my shoulders! Please find another doctor now, you shouldn't have to be sufffering and you should not have to have any surgery you don't feel comfortable with!
