    • About Me

My name is Brandi and I'm 25 years old. I am currently a customer service representative and I love what I do. I have a wonderful family whom I love dearly and the best friends any girl could ask for. My addictions are music and sunflower seeds. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes when I was 16 after a trip to the hospital. My legs kept hurting and the pain was so strong it brought me to tears. I'm looking for people in the same position as me to talk to. HELP! ;)

Depression is hereditary. Both sides of my family have a history of it and it was inevitable that I would be diagnosed. I have been on anti-depressants since I was 20. I went through a divorce, lost my Father and 2 very close friends all in 1 year. My dosage has doubled since then. No surprise. But it helps. I just try to deal with things as they come at me. Sometimes I can do it.. sometimes I can't. But it is what it is.

      Treatments

      Crying Working / Worked
I have panic attacks and I cry SO much during those. It's uncontrollable. But I do find after I have cried so much, I feel much better.
      Music Working / Worked
Music is one of my addictions. The music I'm listening to depicts any mood that I am in. If I'm sad, I listen to sad music.. which leads to my crying but, as I said, it helps. If I'm in a bad mood, I listen to angry music and think about what I'm mad at. It helps get it out of my system and let go.. sometimes I scream into my pillow which also helps.
    • Close Acne

I have had acne since my 8th grade year. I was an early bloomer and was shocked that it didn't happen before that. My Mom did one of the worse things imaginable and picked at my face causing my scaring today. I have tried many treatments and it has gotten better over the last couple of years. I'm just thankful I'm not in school anymore. Kids can be so cruel!

      Treatments

      AcneFree Working / Worked
I was using ProActiv and it got too expensive for my budget so I started using AcneFree from Wal-Mart. It worked just as well as ProActiv but I had to make sure I used all 3 steps. I washed my face in the morning in the shower and a night RIGHT before I went to bed.
      Benzoyl Peroxide Working / Worked
My Step-Mother bought me something called Benzym-Isen (spelling) that is in the same family as these. It didn't work at all. All it did was dry my face completely out (which was what it was supposed to do) and make my pimples feel and look scaley. I didn't like it at all.
      Proactiv Working / Worked
I used ProActiv for a while.. it worked GREAT. I had to make sure that I used all three steps before it would work though.. which is the point. I washed my face in the morning and at night right before bed. I found washing it before the actual time of going to bed was better than washing it a couple of hours before hand. That way I didn't get ANYTHING on my face after that.
      Washing Working / Worked
I still wash my face every morning and every night before bedtime. It helps to wash it with REALLY hot water and open your pores then rinse with cold water to close them back up.
    • Open Diabetes Type 2

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes when I was 16. I had my glucose levels where they were supposed to be until I moved out on my own. I'm trying to get back to that. My doctor has told me that at the rate I'm going, I will not live to see 30. I'm 25.

      Treatments

      Avandia Working / Worked
This is a really good medication. The only downfall is the fact that it is SO flipping expensive! I would have loved to stay on it but with my insurance being an HRA and sucking as it does.. there's no way I could afford it.
      Byetta Working / Worked
This worked really well for me BUT it was discontinued because it was caused pancreatic cancer. I would rather not worry about having that ON TOP of being diabetic. That would be awful. So, I stopped.
      Levemir Working / Worked
This is really good as well. BUT.. it's also expensive. I found that Wal-Mart has a Reli-On brand of their own for Humilin and NovoNordisk. I have recently asked my doctor to switch me to those instead. $100 a month versus $276 is MUCH better.
      Metformin Working / Worked
I take 2000 mg a day of this stuff. When I first started using it, I couldn't keep ANYTHING in my body when I ate. But now that my body has gotten used to it, it helps. The only thing with this medication that you want to be careful with is that it's also used for a fertility drug. OOPS. ;x
