Hmmmm, just spent my very first ever week at camp. As the nurse, not a camper. Never went to camp as a child so this was a first for me and quite an experience. It was up in the mountains, no tv, no radio, no internet, and next to no phone coverage. No video games or anything else were allowed. It was great. The kids ages 5 to 10 were mostly great. They hiked, played outdoor games, did journaling, sang songs, had campfires, lots of crafts, did skits and plays, played on the swing set, slid down the mountain on a waterslide (home made) and multiple other things. They mostly got along with just the typical kid bickering at times. The camp had JR counselors aged 14 to 17 who were responsible for groups of 3 to 4 kids and there were multiple adults supervising and organizing the whole thing. The nights were so quiet you could hear a cricket sigh, it was great. Of course the RA did not like some of the activity and now I am paying for it, but it was worth it. I also have bronchititis, but again it was worth it. It gave me a great appreciation for what God has put on this earth for us to enjoy and how far removed I have become from a great deal of it. I hope I have the chance to do it again next year.
