Close Tourette Syndrome & Tic Disorders

My son was diagnosed with TS, ADHD, and learning disabilities many years ago. He is now 20 years old and will be in his third year of college next year. He continually struggles with anxiety, anger, some impulsivity and social skills issues. The stress of college (social issues of living in dorm and academic pressure) seem to exacerbate his symptoms. He tends to do better in the summer. I need support from this group so I can continue to support him in the best way that I can.

Treatments

Risperdal Working / Worked

My son uses Risperdal and Tenex. It helps, however we are concerned about long term side effects of Risperdal, since he has taken this drug since 4th grade. He tried to go off .5 mg last year and he became so angry it was scary. He went back on after 2 weeks and I don't think he has really been the same since. He is still having more problems than usual with anger management.

Tenex Working / Worked

This really has helped control his tics.
