I am an Intensive Care physician who has been practicing for 25 years. I have two wonderful children, 2 wonderful grandchildren, a great son-in-law, a loving Fiance and a great brother and sister and good friends. I am very positive going into this but I know too much and I am scared. I find it interesting to go through this journey after having cared for patients like me my whole career.

You can do this. You are strong and you will win.
Hello Andy,
My husband had been diagnosed with poorly-differentiated adenocarcinoma of the distal esophagus where it met with his stomach. I can't say much except I did so much research and reading trying to get any kind of help for him I could. He turned 50 & retired March 07 and was diagnosed 5 days later so he did not get to enjoy any part of his long awaited retirement. I can say each case is different and if caught in time there is a good chance of recovery. It may be a tough road but it has happened and there are great survival stories to give you support. I do recommend checking out Cathy's EC Cafe on line and reading of some of the great stories. My husband had the best of care at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda MD with one of the most caring, supportive and knowledgeable doctors I have ever met he was in one of the Clinical Trial programs but unfortunately it was too late for him. He was only 50 and the love of my life. He will always remain my soul mate. He kept the most positive attitude of anyone I have ever known with cancer, he wanted to make people happy and make them smile. So in his honor I try to give people the support and comfort to help them win this fight and I give you all the prayers in the world. Take care and keep in touch so I know how you are doing.
