Close Diverticulitis
My husband was diagnosed with DD last November during a visit to the ER because he hadnt gone to the potty in over a week; could barely walk and stand up straight due to the intense pain. After another week at home, still not pooping and on Levaquin and Cipro both, it only got worse and we ended up at the ER again, and this time he was admitted. He was told he would have to have emergency surgery, but it didnt happen as such. Meds were able to break loose and he started going. Now what to eat?
Treatments
- Cipro Working / Worked
- Cipro has worked for him and is working now as he's on it again. Cipro is also good for severe body acne!! :)
- High Fiber Diet Considering
- It helps him, I guess, but if he gets too much, then the problems start all over again. I would say that high fiber isnt really as good as some would say.
- Levaquin Working / Worked
- This has worked for my husband's issues as well. He was not put on it at home this time because with no insurance this time around, we couldnt afford it, so they put him on Cipro again.
- Walking Working / Worked
- While hospitalized in Nov and again just last week once he had a lot of meds in him the doctor wanted him to start walking around to move his colon. We walked from the 4th flr to the ER doors and his guts growled and we made it back to his room and he went to the bathroom. We were told that walking is the best because it allows your colon to be able to move around which causes nature to do its thing.
