As I prepare for another weekend of sharing my message to a church, pretty much adults in the morning and then youth in the afternoon, it is a message I’ve come to believe because it is a message I’ve experienced. This message will cause the listener to rethink everything they’ve heard regarding addiction and see it for what it is: unresolved pain. “Unresolved pain” will have you do things you would have never considered were you living a life of pain resolved. As a result of this pain, we naturally will find methods to ease the pain, beginning by the instructions of those who cared for us when we had colds, head and stomach aches, they gave us remedies and as we grow older we seek remedy in other ways some of which are using substances whether drugs, food, pornography, gambling, etc. We want peace from the pain.
As a result, many hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent, man-hours are expended all in the name of providing healthcare to those millions of individuals who are suffering from “unresolved pain” by going after the obvious, the symptoms. They work so people in pain would stop using drugs and other sources of pain relievers without actually addressing the real issue: unresolved pain. It is no wonder many return (relapse) to using because they were never healed from the problem. It is my belief when the problem “unresolved pain” is healed, the symptoms (drug usage) goes away!
The message given this weekend is the message I will tell you today whether you’re the addict or the family and friend of an addict, you must begin to talk about what is going on within you. You must be willing to share your “unresolved pain” with those who might be able to truly help you, and certainly you must be willing to open yourself to the only one entity, God, who is able to heal you completely and thoroughly, for without Him, we can do nothing.
We are not all that and we shouldn’t think we are.
It is the mercy of our Father who has brought us this far.

I feel the truth in this message. So much to consider yet simply the truth. Be well and as always, thank you. Hugs

What an awesome journal message - yes - until we are able to talk and express the unresolved pain or triggers, we are not able to begin our healing process, which is a very difficult thing for an addict to do. Thanks I really needed to read what you wrote.

Thank you for "your" comment, Bcolliesmom, that means a lot to me.

I'm printing the bottom part to take to my husband, He knows the only entity that can heal him and he needs to get back to Him.
Thanks

You're quite welcome. I'm glad you found it useful and let's hope and pray it touches your husband's heart to do likewise.

He says he is under a lot of bondage and doesn't know what to do, but I know he does, he is the one that introduced me to the Lord! He just has a problem staying with the Lord. I will just keep praying that he will choose God again and not the alcohol and pills.

It begins with falling on our knees and staying there until something happens. It is only when we begin to bow down is when we're able to rise up! Tell him that.
brotherroy
I will - Thank you!
