About Me
Hi! I'm a 30 year old stay-at-home mom, wifey, and cervical cancer survivor! I'm tying to find life after cancer because in my head, I still have it even though all my tests and scans prove otherwise. I have good days and bad days, hard to believe that I've been through so much in the last year! Two AWESOME things(in no particular order) that did happen over the last year, despite everything else....#1...MY SON, DYLAN!!! I really do think that little boy saved my life! If it wasn't for him, who knows when or if they would have ever found that polyp! And #2....MY RENEWED FAITH IN GOD! IF it weren't for prayer, faith, and believing in the ultimate healer JESUS CHRIST I would be totally lost!

Close Cervical Cancer
I developed a cervical polyp towards the end of my pregnancy. Turned out to be a very rare and aggressive form of (non-HPV related) cervical cancer. I found out it was indeed cancer just 8 days after my sons birth! Talk about bad timing! Anyways, I had 12 rounds of chemo and a hysterectomy using the Da Vinci Robot. So far so good, the cancer is gone and hopefully won't come back!
Treatments
- Chemotherapy Working / Worked
- Of course I lost my hair, that was the worse part. I had so many meds to keep me from getting sick. I'd have to say that the worse side effect for me was the extreme fatigue.
- Cisplatin Working / Worked
- This was one of my chemo drugs. I don't really know much about it other than it can be really hard on your kidneys. I go in for tests to check kidney function and so far they are perfectly normal.
- Hysterectomy Working / Worked
- I had a hysterectomy after I recovered from all my chemo treatments. It was done by the Da Vinci Robot. My surgery was done in August 2008. It only required an overnight stay in the hospital. Walking hurt like hell at first, but the downtime compared to other surgeries was very minimal. I have 5 scars across my tummy, anywhere from about 1/2-1" wide, and they are fading beautifully!
Close Lymphedema
I am a recent cervial cancer survivor! After my chemo treatments, I had a hysterectomy where several lymph nodes were removed from my groin area. Now, I have secondary lymphedema in my legs. To look at my legs you wouldn't think anything was wrong. However, the measurements tell a different story! Lymphedema is sorta tricky to diagnose, however, I was a text-book case due to having cancer-related surgery and lymph node removal.
Treatments
- Wrapping Working / Worked
- It's time consuming, and my legs really itch! Best if you put TONS of lotion on your legs before you bandage. I've just recently stopped the bandaging and am now in my sexy (sarcasm) support hose. They are hot and I hate them!
Open Hysterectomy
Underwent a hysterectomy in August 2008 using the Da Vinci Robot after finishing up my chemo treatments for cervical cancer. Only required an over-night stay in the hospital and I was up and walking the next day. Granted, it hurt like hell, but the overall recoup time was minimal compared to other surgeries. Five tiny scars across my belly are fading beautifully!
