I started at DailyStrength with this goal:

 

Lose 20 inches of waist.

 

To accomplish this, I started walking.  Then I found and hired a personal trainer/movement coach, Jen Waak of www.movefitfun.com.  The Z-Health drills she taught me ended 4 years of agonizing pain.  Now living almost entirely pain free (unless I get lazy and forget to do my drills for more than 5 days), I'm focusing on regaining lost mobility and stability.   Jen had me start tracking my nutritional intake.  When it was safe for me to do strength training, Jen begin teaching me how to use Kettlebells to strengthen and heal my body.

 

Now I can do thrusters, military presses, swings and bent rows.  I'm learning the Turkish Getup and how to do a push up.  I can walk 2 hours without getting tired or having an asthma attack.  I can cook for my daughter and play with her on the play ground when the air quality is good.  I can put on my own shoes without huffing and puffing, sweating and feeling nauseous.

 

In only 4 months, I've gone from a 56" waist to a 51" waist.  I've completed 25% of my goal to lose 20" of waist.  Now that my body is healing and I have some momentum going, I think I'll be able to lose the next 5" in less than 4 months.  Stay tuned for further updates.  If I can do it, anyone can.  Join me and set a goal to lose inches in your waist and gain years of life expectancy.
