    • About Me

I came on the site to find answers about my daughter. She was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety and social anxiety disorder. As she has been getting older I have become more concerned about bipolar disorder. My uncle on my mothers side had it. I was thought to have a bipolar disorder but most of my symptoms disappeared in 2002 after being treated for thyroid cancer.

Have you heard of Orthomolecular medicine? My family doctor is an Osteopath, and believes a lot of nutritional deficiencies (caused by either not eating, mass production - so not in the soil, or malabsorption etc) cause many diseases & honestly it makes perfect sense. Vitamin 12 deficiency for one is amazing what it can be misdx'd as - megaloblastic madness from b12 anemia, facinating... They seriously thought I had MS, I was just barely low on my b12 and had parathesia. My whole leg would go numb I would stand and fall, I have permanent nerve damage because of it - all because of a slight deficiency in b12. Magnesium deficiency is common, and it is a biggie with anxiety & headaches... Vit D I am reading is common as well, even for those without autoimmune issues even in those who take supplements, go outside and the like (I was dx'd with this and have to take 50,000 iu of rx'd vit D once a week) it has a huge relation with depression... My pdoc is into vitamins as well with everything else - he is a big believer in Deplin with other meds - here is more about it: http://www.deplin.com/ & also N Acetyl Cysteine (with Vit C) for those with schizophrenia & BP http://www.google.com/search?q=n+a...:en-US:official&client=firefox-a Just facinating... ok - I have gone all off (hahaha)

Hi! Thanks :-D Nice meeting you! About removing my thyroid... my endo wanted to do RAI because supposedly my goiter was large and it went inward. My TSH wasn't really that high (but I was hypothyroid), but it would fluctuate too much and my mom had a really bad case of thyroid cancer - she was hyperthyroid off and on as well. I was supposed to have biopsies yearly (haven't been good about that one) Thyroid problems run on the same side of the family that mental health issues do. Anyways, my moms thyroid is removed - she had to have many rounds of RAI and surgeries & if her TSH changes ever so slightly (her family doc wanted to play endo which was a bad move and made her TSH higher by saying her meds were too high) she grows nodules - and she has no thyroid! Supposedly I am somewhat like her & we go to the same practice... I have an ultrasound in August and probably a FNA shortly after... They may still want to do RAI - it may be a good idea. RAI just scares me, I guess because of the idea of radiation... Many people have told me though & from researching it that the new doses aren't really scary & it would be less invasive than actually removing it & I wouldn't have to deal with the crazy fluctuations of my TSH with Hashis... Surgery still sounds more appealing than radiation to me though... but yea untreated thyroid probs can mimic rapid cycling bipolar disorder. Funny thing is even treated thyroid patients with bipolar tend to have rapid cycling - go figure right?!?! Then there are those who use lithium, and that will just kill off your thyroid - pdoc & family doc & endo are like NO NO on the lithium for me... Anyways I have gone off the deep end about thyroids :-D But yea that little butterfly shaped gland can sure cause a bunch of problems when it is whacky. What happened to yours?

Anyway, I basically said that I knew about the dr from hanging around with an anti-bad science crowd, and then found a link for you to back it up. x

I sent a long message and a short message with the link in it. My messages have been playing up lately, it's infuriating, I always forget to save what I've written! x
