Close Bipolar Disorder
I was diagnosed in 2001 and it took me until 2007 to finally find the right "cocktail." I am very self-aware and take my meds. In 2007 I moved back to TX from Nashville, TN and it triggered a depressive episode. I still have yet to slip into a manic one. I feel I do much better when I have family support around me and people who understand what I'm going through on a daily basis. That is why I'm on here now.
Treatments
- Abilify Working / Worked
- I have been on abilify for over a year now and it seems to be working well.
- Depakote Working / Worked
- I used this drug for 6 years, worked well, but it was a weight gaining drug.
- Geodon Not Working
- Didn't work, had side effects.
- Seroquel Not Working
- Tried this one out for 1 week and wigged out completely, went manic in the worst way.
- Topamax Working / Worked
- Have been on for 5 years now and seems to be doing well.
- Zyprexa Working / Worked
- I use this drug when I'm manic, seems to help control mania.
- Effexor Working / Worked
- Been on since 1999 before I was even diagnosed BP. Works great.
- Klonopin Working / Worked
- Have been on this since 2001, really helps with anxiety.
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- Its always helpful to see a therapist ... somehow your thoughts seem to be more organized and rational.
- Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
- The reason I chose to move back from Nashville, TN is to be closer to family. They have been the backbone through all the craziness of the past 9 years.
