Six weeks after Mohs and reconstructive surgery. I am told the skin graft is healing well and that I will have a great outcome. Am reserving judgement on that.
At the moment the skin is still lumpy, swollen and fragile. It bleeds easily so wearing make-up over it at this point is out the question. At home I put aquaphor on it. When I am out and about I cover it with a bandaid.
My plastic surgeon will be doing demabrasion at the end of August. He calls it sanding it down. Sounds pleasant doesn't it? My hope is that the graft will then be level with the rest of my nose and that in time the coloring will more closely match the surrounding skin.
Wish I could be more positive about it... but it just seems to be healing so slowly. Sigh.

Thanks for posting your post-op followup! Bummer that it's taking longer than you would like to heal. But I am glad that your surgeon has a plan... Thinking of you. Please keep us posted!

Thanks for update. I hope the dermabrasion is a success. I am sad to hear it is still so sensitive. What time frame does the surgeon believe you will see the result you will both be happy with? Best of luck with your healing.

Thanks for the comments. I appreciate the good wishes. :)
No specific timeline was discussed. The follow-up pictures they showed me of other patients were at one year.
I suspect it will be at least another 3-4 months before I can cover it with make-up and have no one notice... and of course it will really depend on how I heal after the dermabrasion.
Am trying to be patiently optimistic.
