About Me
I am a retired registered nurse and only became disabled by my illness in November. I was engaged to be married this month but an exacerbation in my illness caused the end of my relationship. My daily activities, when I can get out of a bathrobe, include shucking and jiving, moving and grooving, poking dead things with a stick, dancing with myself, making a little couch fort and hiding, dysfunctional grieving, building stuff. painting stuff and reading the newspaper.

Close Bipolar Disorder
I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 1998. I became unable to work in July of last year. My wedding was recently cancelled, which has lead to a great deal of pain and anxiety.
Treatments
- Abilify Working / Worked
- OK. Expensive, so it causes me to get anxious that my doctor wont have samples.
- Lamictal Working / Worked
- Changed when I became manic.
- Lithium Working / Worked
- Working well, but weight gain.
- Tegretol Working / Worked
- Worked well at first, then stopped working.
- Topamax Working / Worked
- Worked well for a long time. Taken off when mania needed to be stabilized.
- Wellbutrin Somewhat Helpful
- Worked well at first, then stopped helping.
- Electroconvulsive therapy Working / Worked
- First round helped my depression. Second round made me manic.
