The first treatment Mood
Tuesday, May 19, 2009 | A Positive story

I went throug my first round of CHOP-R today.  I was a little nervous getting in to this, but things went well.  I handled the Rituxan with no side effects.  I got a little chilly, but I think that was the room because everyone was commenting on it.

My church gave me a prayer blanket to cover me during the treatment and it wrapped me in more than just warmth.

After that, the rest was a breeze.  I feel groggy and bit like a mild flu coming on, but pretty much ok.  Thanks for all your prayers and support.

George

Hi Geprge, happy to hear you did Ok. The rituxan is a piece of cake. The predisone will get to you. Try and take it first thing in the morning, hopefully by the time you get ready to go to bed it won't be to bad, it gives you lots of energy. I alwsays kind of crashed after the predisone stopped. How many treatments do you have to get 6 or 8? The hair loss really bothered me but then I'm a girl, You will do fine the unknow about chemo is the worst part.

I do take the prednisone first thing in the morning. Got A bit of a lift, and then sort of crashed mid-day when the charge wore off. I expect 4-6 treatments. I am a bit bothered by the hair loss, as well, though my wife convinced me to shave it close now so it is not such a shock later.

Since the only tumor found so far was on my gall bladder, my treatments are precautionary to catch any disease that has yet to land somewhere.

Good for you, This last time I only had 3 rounds of CHOP-R it was only in my neck. Then I had 20 radiation treatments. This is a weird disease, you never get away from it. So you just have to learn to live with it. I get tired of it always hanging over my head. So I just go on with life and try and not think of it any more than I have to. I went 4 years in between active disease. Life goes on!!!!!!

mine is also folicular, grade 3. I did 4 rounds with 17 radiations. Mine was in my left groin lymph node, they did see a spot on my face and my adrinal gland though. I have my first round of testing next Tuesday since I completed the treatments. My church gave me a prayer blanket also.. God is so good. Hang in there and remember - This to shall pass

God is good to me...and sometimes I wonder why. I know I will have to live with this shadow for the rest of my life, but oh what a life it is. I greet each day with tears of joy and each evening on my knees thanking God for the day.
